At a meeting of Commissioners of the Nutwood Drainage and Levee District, there was an informal discussion of proposed new improvements for the District, notably a system of drains to remove superfluous waters from the area.
In order to devise some means that will lessen the amount of water that will have to be pumped from the district, the land owners authorized the Commissioners to employ a competent engineer to go over the drainage area thoroughly and submit plans to divert the water from the hill streams directly into either Otter Creek or the Illinois River.
The matter of rebuilding and further strengthening the levee near Spankey was also discussed. –Jersey County Democrat.
