St. Norbert’s students came out to the Calhoun Nursing and Rehab car show, where they had the chance to learn a little bit about cars.
Last month, Calhoun Nursing and Rehab (CNR) residents were treated to a car show with more than a dozen vehicles participating.
On Thursday Sept. 15, CNR partnered with White Hall Drag O Way to host the event. Residents and staff of CNR as well as St. Norbert’s School students were in attendance to see the show.
Lea Miller, activities director for CNR, said she has been thinking about doing this for a long time, but wasn’t sure where to find the people to do it. She said she made some phone calls and finally got a hold of the White Hall Drag O Way crew.
“They made calls out to several members and people in the area on Monday,” said Miller. “On Thursday, [we] had 13 cars lined up outside [our] building. The residents were very excited.”
Residents got the chance to talk to the owners and some even sat in some of the cars, according to Miller.
Other activities provided during the event, included hot dogs, snacks, and drinks for the drivers. Miller said, on behalf of CNR, she would like to thank White Hall Drag O Way, Jeff Dixon, Neil Fansler, Dennis Cumby, and Sheriff Heffington for helping to make the event possible.
“They made so many smiles and the residents loved it,” Miller said.
Miller said she hopes that CNR will be able to host another car show in the spring– with more cars and extend the invitation to the whole community.
