According to a report by Quincy’s WGEM, Blessing Health System has eliminated approximately 150 positions. WGEM says the news of the layoffs was conveyed by an email sent to Blessing employees on behalf of CEO Maureen Kahn.
An email, obtained by WGEM News, says the organization is “reducing or restructuring” the positions, according to a report by WGEM.
According to the email obtained by WGEM, many of the “layoffs” are unfilled positions that will remain unfilled.
“The majority of those positions, approximately 88, are vacant and will remain unfilled,” the email stated. “For the remaining positions, staff were offered today a severance package, or offered a new position, or a reduction of the current full-time position.”
The number of current employees or Pike County employees slated to lose their jobs has not been released.
