Picture Pittsfield and the Pittsfield Lions are hosting the first Service Organization Volunteer Fair. The event will be Thursday, October 27 from 6 PM until 8 PM at the Pike County Senior Center, 220 W. Adams in Pittsfield.
The Fair will showcase over a dozen exhibitors representing service organizations from the Pittsfield area. “We know that many service and civic organizations are having difficulty getting the word out about their organizations and getting participation from the community. We also know there are people in our community who want to get involved, but either don’t know how or don’t think they have the time. This event is a way to connect the organizations with people willing to serve and better our community” said Kaye Iftner, one of the organizers of the event.
Representatives from the service organizations will be on hand to provide information about the mission and activities of their respective organizations, as well as volunteer opportunities. The public will have an opportunity to learn about these organizations and find ways to serve the community.
Organizers believe this will be a great opportunity for anyone who is looking for a way to get involved. Whether it’s a student looking for community service hours, a new resident looking to get involved, a young family looking for meaningful things to do together, or anyone wanting to give back, there will be something for everyone at the Fair.
The Service Organization Volunteer Fair is free and open to the public.
Should you have any questions or need more information about the Fair, call Kaye Iftner at 201-314-3624 ([email protected]) or Delilah Sanders at 217-440-5101.
