The Roodhouse Police Department held their Trunk or Treat on Monday night with a record crowd once again. Estimates are at least 650 to 750 children came through this year.
Not only was there an abundance of candy, but there was also hot chocolate provided by the First Baptist Church of Roodhouse and hot dogs provided by Lighthouse Outreach Center. There was also free popcorn and a fire ring where one could make their own s’mores.
While those who decorate their trunks often provide their own candy, the Police Department also collects bags of candy throughout October to supplement those handing out the candy. The result – by the end of the night, kids were getting literally handsful of candy at some trunks by those trying to get rid of the excess candy.

To combat the sugar high, Lighthouse Outreach Center served up hot dogs in the center of the park. Jennifer Prosser was tasked with putting the hot dogs in the buns for the hungry ghouls.

Perhaps the most terrifying display set up around the square, but the kids absolutely loved it. The Wear family went all out this year. Left to right: Caleb, Zach and Larry Wear. Identity of the victim is unknown.

Two-year-old Ryan Sprague made one of the cutest little cowboys.
