The Jersey Community High School varsity boys basketball had a 50/50 start to their season last week, winning two games and losing two.
The Panthers’ claimed a win in their first game of the season at Roxana in neutral-tournament action, facing off against the North Greene Spartans last Monday, Nov. 21. The Panthers annihilated the Spartans, 64-25. Top scorer for the Panthers was Jaxon Brunaugh with 15 points, followed by A. Kanallakan who put up 12 and Francis Vogel with 11.
However, the next neutral game, against Marquette Catholic, on Wednesday, Nov. 23, didn’t yield the same results for the Panthers, who fell to the Explorers, 63-52.
Their next game on Friday, Nov. 25, ended in a 61-56 win against the Civic Memorial Eagles in more neutral tournament action.
Jersey closed out their week at home, but the game resulted in a loss for the Panthers at the hands of the Carbondale Terriers, 55-46.
After their rollercoaster of a week, the Panthers sit at a 2-2 win-loss record for the season as they prepare to host the Civic Memorial Eagles– who also hold a 2-2 record– this Friday at 7:30 p.m.
