The JCH Ambulance Association stopped by the Jerseyville Police Department, the Jersey County Sheriffs Department, the Grafton Police Department and the Brighton Police Department to drop off some early Christmas gifts Monday morning.
Nathan Bishop with the JCH Ambulance Association said the organization does fundraisers and outreach throughout the year like their fish fry and duck derby.
Since 2015 the association has helped to provide supplemental emergency equipment for the ambulance service as raised funds for power stretchers, CPR devices and has even helped with the purchase of ambulances.
This year the Ambulance Association decided to donate six first aid kit jump bags throughout the local departments, and Santa even ditched his sleigh for an ambulance to help deliver the gifts.
“Oftentimes they beat us to the scene, so we decided to purchase these jump bags,” Bishop said.
Bishop said with the ambulances being deployed all over the county there are occasions when the local police departments arrive to a call before paramedics, making the jump bags very useful in some emergencies.
