Vernita Marie Kamp | 87 | Hamburg
Vernita Marie Kamp, 87, formerly of rural Hamburg, IL, passed away Tuesday morning, Dec, 26, 2022 at the Calhoun Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hardin.
Vernita was born Dec. 9, 1935 near Hamburg, a daughter of Slocum L. and Mecca DeGerlia Blackorby. She married Edwin J. Kamp on Aug. 28, 1955 in Pleasant Hill and Edwin preceded her in death on June 29, 2020.
Vernita was a graduate of Pleasant Hill High School and Stevens College in Columbia, MO.
She was employed as a nurse for a doctor’s office in Louisiana, MO for many years and also was the bookkeeper for the family farm.
Vernita was a member of the Indian Creek Church of Christ.
Survivors include two children, Mitchell (Diane) Kamp of Melbourne, Florida and Lisa (Greg) Ringhausen of Jerseyville and a granddaughter, Chelsea Kamp.
Vernita was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Graveside services were held Friday, Dec. 30, 2022 at 11 a.m. at the Indian Creek Cemetery near Hamburg. There is no visitation, however friends are invited to the graveside service.
Memorials may be made to the Indian Creek Cemetery.
