Ronald Lee Beams | 78 | Interlachen, Florida
Ronald Lee Beams, of Interlachen, Florida, was surrounded by family as he entered the arms of his Savior Jesus Christ on Feb. 1, 2023, at Haven – Roberts Hospice Care, Palatka, Florida.
Ronald was born on July 3, 1944, in Springfield, Illinois, the oldest of five children. He graduated from White Hall High School with the Class of 1962, attended Brown’s Business School, and was enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served as a Radioman. He proudly served from 1964 to 1968. He was an insurance agent for many companies and later formed Beams Insurance Agency as an independent agent and served the community until his retirement.
Ronald and Ruth Ann Vestel were married on June 19, 1966, at Hillview Baptist Church, and Ruth Ann survives. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Elsie Beams.
He is also survived by his brother, Gareth (Polly) Beams; sisters, Nancy Bryant, and Cindy (Andy) Holloway. He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Beams. He is survived by his children, Daniel Joe (wife, Stacey) Beams, Pamela Sue Sexton, and Derek Brian Beams, seven grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
After retirement Ronald and Ruth Ann moved to Interlachen, Florida, where they have made many friends and pursued a passion for music. They played in a rock ‘n roll band and performed all over North Florida.
Ronald was saved and baptized in 1957 at the sand hole outside of Hillview, Illinois, and spent the rest of his life serving the Lord. Ronald spent many years as a song leader at Richwoods Baptist Church outside of Roodhouse, Illinois, with Ruth Ann by his side accompanying on the piano. Ronald was a member of Barrow Baptist Church. Ronald and Ruth Ann faithfully attended Liberty Baptist Church in Palatka after moving to Florida.
Mackey Daws Funeral Home in Roodhouse, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements. A Celebration of Life will be held in Roodhouse, Illinois, at a later date. Memorials may be made to Barrow Baptist Church, Roodhouse, Illinois, or Liberty Baptist Church, Palatka, Florida.
