This beautiful little cheery spring picture is what those attending the Winchester Civic Group fundraiser at City Hall will be painting on March 5. The money raised will be going towards improvements to the city’s parks.
Spring is in the air and with that thought in mind, the Winchester Civic Group’s Parks and Recreation Committee has many improvements they would like to see take place in the community park.
While some of them can be accomplished with mere time and a little elbow-grease, others take a little cold-hard cash to accomplish. So, to raise these funds, the Parks and Rec Committee has organized a fun fundraiser – the first of many.
“We are kicking off our fundraising efforts for these projects with a paint class with Tami the Paint Lady,” Parks and Rec Member Bobby Jo Rousey Smith said. “She has hosted a couple of other paint classes in this area recently and they have all been very well received and we are hoping this one will be as well.”
This paint class, however, is a little bit different than the others. It is for more “mature” audiences. Now, now, don’t let your mind wander into forbidden territory – it is just a little more difficult to paint.
“Because of the level of difficulty to paint, this class is for adults only,” Smith said. “For one, it is a very large piece, measuring 11 inches by 14 inches and has more elements of detail than most of her paintings that she offers for groups of all ages.”
The paint class will be held Sunday, March 5, at the City Hall meeting room at #5 East Mark St. on the Square in Winchester from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The painting in question is an adorable little bunny mischievously digging in a flower pot with his little bottom and cotton tail sticking out. There are also several flowers to paint.
The cost of the class is $30 and paint and canvas will be provided. Registration is limited to the first 25 and pre-registration and payment are required. You may register with a private Facebook message to Bobbi Jo Rousey Smith or pay with Venmo to the Winchester Civic Group.
If you have trouble using the QR code, just use the handle $WinchesterCivicGroup to pay through the app. Another option is to leave your payment at Rural Cyclery in an envelop with your name and phone number on the envelope.
There will be refreshments offered for a free-will donation.
