KATHY ELLISON
Kathy Ellison, certified nursing assistant (CNA), Acute Care, Illini Community Hospital, retired April 10 after 18 years of service.
“I have enjoyed this job because I have been able to make a difference in peoples’ lives,” she said. “Even in their weakest moment, I felt I had been able to make a difference for them.”
Ellison recently received an “I CARE Award,” from Blessing Health for the exceptional care she has delivered. The nomination read, in part, “Kathy is so intuitive and aware of patient needs. She recently mentioned to a nurse that she thought a patient was aspirating when drinking fluids. After speaking with the provider, testing was ordered and revealed a silent aspiration.”
A Rockport resident, Ellison has also served as a CNA at Eastside Nursing Home, Barry Community Care Center and Liberty Village, where she also served two years as director of assisted living.
