The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is holding a public informational meeting, next week, to discuss the study for a proposed rehabilitation or replacement of the Illinois 16/100 bridge over the Illinois River (Joe Page Bridge). The meeting will be held on Thursday, April 20, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Calhoun High School, located at 102 Calhoun Ave., in Hardin.
IDOT, along with the Federal Highway Administration, initiated a Preliminary Engineering and Environmental Study of the Joe Page Bridge, which connects Calhoun and Greene counties. According to IDOT, the Phase I study will look at options for rehabbing or replacing the existing bridge. The purpose of next week’s meeting is to introduce the project and obtain input from the community.
Handouts and display boards will be available for attendees to review, as well as information regarding engineering, land acquisition and environmental issues. Representatives from IDOT and the project consultant, Hanson Professional Services Inc., will be present for one-on-one discussions regarding the project and to answer any questions. The meeting will be held in an open-house-style event format and no formal presentation will be given.
The public is invited to make a comment for the record, according to IDOT. A comment form will be provided at the meeting and can also be found on the project website at www.joepagebridge.com.
The public can also mail their comments directly to 1102 Eastport Plaza Drive, Collinsville, IL. 62234. Additionally, comments may be submitted via email to Annie Protho at [email protected] on or before Thursday, May 4. Telephone comments may also be made by May 4, by calling Prothro at 618-346-3161.
The meeting site is accessible to those with disabilities. To request special accommodations, contact IDOT at 618-346-3161 or 888-642-3449 (TDD) at least five days before the meeting.
