Plans are underway for a fishing expo for youth to be held on Saturday, April 22, at the John Wood Community College Agricultural Education Center, 37803 IL-104, in Baylis, IL. Check-in will begin at 8:30 a.m., with the expo from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The expo, hosted by the University of Illinois Extension, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and JWCC, will be a hands-on experience for youth who will attend four educational sessions, learn about fishing safety and have the opportunity to fish. Participants will each receive a fishing pole and other fishing and 4-H related items. Snacks will be provided for participants.
All interested youth ages 5-18 are invited to participate. Current 4-H members can attend at no cost but 4-H membership is not required. Cost is $20 for non-4-H members. Participants are asked to pre-register by April 14 at https://go.illinois.edu/4HFishingBaylis. Space is limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
