Illinois Electric Cooperative (IEC) Member’s Fund recently donated $5,000 to the North Greene Area Food Pantry. The food pantry will serve any resident of Greene County, and in 2022 assisted 3,437 individuals.
The donation was made possible by participating Illinois Electric members paying an even dollar amount on their bill. For example, if the bill is $133.42, the member will pay an even $134, with the 58 cents in this example going to the Member’s Fund. In all, about 4,800 accounts participate by contributing to the fund. The Fund uses these proceeds to benefit activities throughout the Cooperative’s service area. Since March 2000, the fund has distributed $873,000 to local schools, hospitals, churches, service clubs and charities.
