Musgrove to hold senior french horn recital

Katelyn Musgrove, a senior at Pittsfield High School, and daughter of Rick and Krystal Musgrove of Pittsfield, will present her senior French horn recital Friday, May 19, at 7:30 p.m. at the Pittsfield Church of the Nazarene, 227 W. Washington, Pittsfield. The public is invited.
Katelyn’s program will include selections by Mozart, Kopprasch, Telemann, Rodgers/Hammerstein, Beethoven, Bach and Herfurth. Accompanists are Cleve and Susanne Curry. Katelyn’s private horn instructor is Angela Lipcamon, her PHS band teacher is Justin Bangert.
Musgrove participates in jazz, marching and concert band. She has participated in music solo and ensemble contest yearly, performing on french horn, trumpet, voice and piano, and earning multiple first place ratings. She has participated in the Pike County Honor Band for two years, was accepted by audition into the All-District Band for two years and All-District Orchestra her junior and senior years. She was chosen principle horn player in All-District Orchestra her junior year and her audition score earned her the honor of playing in the All-State Orchestra, seated 3rd chair in the section of top players in the state.
Musgrove’s other music activities include chorus and church pianist. katelyn was awarded the john phillip sousa senior band award, for high level music performance, dedication to the band program, good character, responsibility and leadership.
She has also been active in Quiz Bowl, being co-captain her senior year. She is a PHS National Honor Society Member and Camp Counselor at Mississippi Valley Christian Service Camp.
This fall she will be furthering her french horn and academic studies at Truman State University, Mo.where through audition she has been awarded the President’s Honorary Music Scholarship and will be a member of the French horn choir and instrumental ensembles. She has also earned academic scholarships there, including the TruMerit and President’s Honorary Scholarship.
