The Pikeland School Board met May 8 in a special meeting.
The meeting was necessary to approve the bids for the bleacher demolition and concrete foundation work to be be done at the high school. The board also approved bids for paving two of the district’s bigger parking lots.
Personnel action was also taken, including accepting resignations from Amber Apps, a paraprofessional at Pittsfield High School; Kathy Lehr, paraprofessional for South School; Kim Gerard as sophomore class co-sponsor; and Kindra Phillips, sophomore class co-sponsor.
The board hired Rhonda Laux as the accommodation route bus driver, Zach Ferguson as the varsity baseball coach for the 23-24 school year and David Marable as the assistant girls basketball coach at PHS.
Callie Wassell, English teacher at PHS, will transfer to the PHS media specialist for the upcoming school year.
Volunteer coach approved was, Jason White, assistant volunteer softball coach for the 23-24 school year.
Personnel decisions from the May 17 meeting include accepting resignations from Sandy Curless, Title 1 teacher at South Elementary; Jodi Gentler, pom sponsor at Pikeland Community School; Ashlee Nash, as the district transportation coordinator; David Sharrow, as night custodian at PHS; Lydnsay Smith C-Pod classroom teacher at PCS.
The board hired: Isaac Amann, as the summer technology assistant; Caden Casto as a summer custodian assistant; Amy Gay, clerical support; Niki Dixon, paraprofessional; Zane Philips, summer custodial assistant; Cherie Waggonner, summer clerical support; Niki Dixon, paraprofessional; Caleb Dixon, assistant football coach; Derek Oitker, assistant wrestling coach at PHS.
Mason Pherigo was approved as a volunteer assistant football coach for this fall.
Ashlyn Havens will transfer from kindergarten at South School to third grade at PCS, Todd Plattner will continue as the hazardous bus route driver.
Receiving honorable release with the probability of being rehired were Darlene Corgiat, Hannah Roig and Michael TenEyck as drama volunteers.
