Ronald and Carolyn Myers of Griggsville will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary Saturday, July 1. Family and friends are invited to attend an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Crossroads Center, 123 W. Jefferson St., Pittsfield. The event will be hosted by their children.
Ronald Myers and the former Carolyn Peterson were married March 2, 1963 at Augustana Lutheran Church in Andover.
Ronald is the son of the late Richard J. and the late Mary Elizabeth Roark Myers and Carolyn is the daughter of the late Sherman and the late June Olson Peterson.
They are parents of three daughters, Elizabeth (Vince) Kurr of San Mateo, Calif., Kristine (Wayne) Bingham of Griggsville, and Deborah (Joe) Duszka of Greensboro, N.C.
They have nine grandchildren: Jacqueline (Dane) Hasselbring, Allyson (Skyler) Sailors, Daniel and Jennifer Bingham, Emma and Benjamin Kurr, Michael, Caroline and Andrew Duszka, and three great grandchildren: Lane and Whalen Hasselbring, and Palmer Sailors.
The couple graduated from the University of Illinois in 1960. Ronald returned to Pike County to engage in farming. Carolyn began her career in Pike County as an assistant home adviser followed by home adviser in Mercer County.
They have been active through the years volunteering in various organizations including Pike County Farm Bureau, Illinois Electric Cooperative, FS Cooperative, Masonic Lodge, Home and Community Education, 4-H, P.E.O., Chautauqua, and the United Methodist Church.
