Alumni Association holds 135th annual meeting

The 135th annual meeting of the White Hall School Alumni Association was held on Saturday evening, May 20, at the North Greene High School Commons. Sue Suttles Vinyard, Class of 1962, presided over the meeting and led in the Pledge of Allegiance. Kay Fansler Welsh, Class of 1961, gave the blessing. The meal was catered by Sue Tucker of Susie Q.
Mary Frances Tunison, Class of 1959, read the minutes of the 2022 meeting. They were approved as corrected. Kay Fansler Welsh announced that the price of tickets would be raised next year to $18 per person. She gave the balance of the treasury at $504.29.
John Westerhold, Class of 1960, nominated the following set of officers for the 2024 year. They are President Becky Chumley Jones, Class of 1963, First Vice President John Westerhold, Class of 1960, Second Vice President Ronnie Collins, Class of 1960, Treasurer Kay Fansler Welsh, Class of 1961, and Secretary Mary Frances Tunison, Class of 1959. The slate was adopted.
John Westerhold announced that the Class of 1960 would meet Friday night, June 23, at Heavy Eddie’s in Hillview. Carol Peters Cook sent word that she will send out word soon concerning a reunion of the Class of 1957.
Lois Taylor Coonrod, as spokesman for the Class of 1958, announced that there were 13 class members present. There are 24 class members who have died.
K.D. King gave reflections on high school life of the Class of 1963. His twin sister, Karen King Gross, added some remarks of her own. Becky Chumley Jones gave a memorial service for deceased members of the class with a poem and reading their names.
Mary Frances Tunison, as Secretary, conducted the roll call of the classes. It revealed 64 members and 29 guests. She noted that there were several family groups present: the Lemons family, the King family, the Gillis family and others. She asked the group to think of absent and deceased members who always enjoyed Alumni so much.
The evening was closed by the singing of the White Hall Loyalty, led by former cheerleaders: Ellen Walker Leake, Lois Taylor Coonrod, Linda Savage Arthalony, Carol Coonrod Little, Kay Fansler Welsh, Lynda Lorton Chapman, Mary Adkins Anthony, Marilyn Lemons Van Lieu, and Becky Chumley Jones.
