Greenfield School District hired a number of personnel for both the classroom and other areas of the district at the June 26 school board meeting.
Tonya Elliott was hired as an Elementary Special Education teacher while Dan Bowman was hired to take over the position as PE/Health teacher for 120 days only. Teacher’s Aide Jennifer Rigg submitted her resignation.
There were two teacher aide positions open and Susie Dalton and Erin Weinman were hired to fill those positions at the high school and elementary school, respectively.
Nick Walker was hired as the Assistant Athletic Director and Leah Jones was hired as the Assistant Cheer Coach. She will be replacing Assistant Cheer Coach Rachael Costello, who submitted her resignation. Maddie Nichols was approved as the High School Volleyball Volunteer Coach.
Director of Maintenance and Transportation Ron Plogger submitted his resignation. Taking his place will be Tim Jones as Director of Transportation and Shannon Seaton as Director of Maintenance.
Jacob Seaton was hired as a part-time summer worker and Scott Plogger and Kyle Cox, Jr. were hired as High School Boys Basketball Assistant Coaches.
The board also approved Sandy Pembrook’s three-year Notice of Retirement and a Hunt Scholarship Application from Emma Wood in the amount of $3,500.
Substitute teachers in the district will see an increase in their paycheck next school year as the board agreed to an increase in daily pay for substitute teachers to $110 per day, which is what most districts in the area are raising their rates to.
In District Highlights, board member Brandi Rynders spoke about the Tiger Trap Team’s accomplishments this year. The Trap and Skeet team both placed second in the conference. Several athletes also placed in individual categories. Addison Arnold placed first and Gavin Rynders placed second in Trap. Kendra Moore placed second for overall female.
In Skeet, the following awards were given: Gavin Rynders, first; Luke Lorton, second and Kendra Moore, fifth place. Congratulations on a great season.
Assistant Superintendent Andy Stumpf gave the Facilities/Transportation report.
The district is working on getting the football field ready for the upcoming season. FS has seeded and aerated the football field for the second time and the water in the concession stand has been turned on for the year. Lambs is still working on the football field entrance.
Now that school is out for the summer, demolition has begun for the old boiler registers in the classrooms. The District Office is still under construction and the bus garage construction may need to be amended.
Some good news, however, is that the front door push bar at the high school has been installed and activity bus No. 10 has been painted and decaled and is ready to rock and roll and hit the road.
