A message from the Pike County Highway Engineer says boaters are urged to use caution at the Florence boat ramp.
According to a press release, due to low water levels, there is a drop off under the water at the end of the ramp.
It is significant enough to cause damage to a trailer if used. Use at your own risk.
Last Thursday, the Illinois River was just under one-foot. Tuesday at 1 p.m. it was .07 foot, down from Monday’s .94 mark. The numbers do not designate the depth of the river. Minor flood stage is at 14 feet and major flood stage is 23 feet.
This is the lowest the Illinois River has been at Valley City, since 1.04, Oct. 12, 2102.
