Two Rivers Crime Stoppers will be holding a ceremony honoring Mike Angel with an award on Monday, Oct. 9, at 7 p.m. at Straight Home Bar and Grill, for his life saving actions over the summer.
Officer Angel was the first person on the scene in Grafton when Judge Burch was injured in a severe bicycling accident in June.
Judge Burch told River County News after the incident that he was certainly indebted to Officer Angel for his actions on that day.
“I was able to call 911 and the first person on the scene was Mike Angel from Grafton P.D. and through his intervention was able to get tourniquets fashioned out of his shirt and my shirt to stop a fair amount of blood loss, and was able to coordinate from there getting the first responders out, and ultimately getting a helicopter out to take me on to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis,” Burch said after the accident.
Calhoun County Commissioner Terry Woelfel said he’d like to see as many people as possible come out to show their support.
“Judge Burch very much wants to do this and I’d like to see as many people there as we can get,” he said.
