The 13th annual Girls Night Out, will be held Thursday Nov.2 starting at 4 p.m.
“It’s really not an annual because we had to skip a year because of Covid,” Kay Ifnter, interim director of the Pike County Chamber of Commerce, said. “Last year we had 28 vendors and I think we are going to be close to that again this year.”
Iftner said food and beverages would be available as well as great shopping opportunities all evening. “We will be missing Pike County Mercantile, Bloomers, Pike Nutrition and Layla Bug,” Iftner said. “We are hoping that the businesses who have moved off the square, like Layla Bugs will come downtown and set up or have specials at their new locations.”
The only requirement to be a vendor is to be a member of the Chamber of Commerce.
Grits and Grace is new this year and Monroe Street Salon is back after taking off a couple of years.
Pikeland Motors is not participating this year, but Reap and Sow’s new owner is excited about the event.
“She is a new owner and this will be her first Girl’s Night Out,” Ifnter said. “She is really excited.”
J.Roberts Jewelry is promising something new.
“All these years he has done the real diamond in the champagne glass,” Iftner said. “This year he says he wants to change things up.”
Geared Up, a t-shirt shop that is currently operating just south of the Dari Ripple, says it plans to set up in it’s new building on the corner of Washington and Madison.
“They are not opening there yet, they are just setting up some items for Girls Night Out“ Iftner said.”Last year they sold t-shirts, but, this year they have shirts to offer that are at a lower price point.”
Iftner added Geared-Up is working on a QR code that those wanting shirts can use to order shirts.
Illini will offer 750 reusable shopping bags, maps will be available, although the deadline to have a business listed on the map is drawing near, Farmer’s State Bank will offer popcorn.
