North Greene School District is looking to hire two individuals to fill the position of technology media information specialist at the both the elementary school and the jr./sr. high school.
“Our District Leadership Team discussed this and communication continues to be something we want to improve on as a district,” Superintendent Jackie Kuchy said. “We had some conversations about the Daily Spartan and it will be no more. We are going to revamp each building’s communications going forward.”
Kuchy said there have been some concerns that people have expressed regarding the way the district communicates with the public.
“There has been some ups and downs and concerns and we are looking to streamline that and put out communications not just to staff in one way but to the community in a different way,” she said. “It is my understanding that some people have created their own Facebook page to post updates.”
The plan is to streamline what they are doing from the district standpoint.
“With that thought, we have discussed that we feel the media presence is difficult for us to maintain,” Kuchy said. “It can’t be an administrator all the time. We need a communication specialist to do that.”
The District Leadership Team discussed creating the two positions, one at each building, using the Teacher Vacancy money.
“Therefore, we are not asking for any money from the district,” Kuchy said. “We are proposing that we would create this stipend position of a technology media information specialist – one at each building.”
According to Kuchy, these two individuals would help with the content on the district website as well as the Facebook page.
“We feel that a social presence is a big part of branding and that is one thing that the teacher vacancy grant money can be used for,” Kuchy said. “Part of the teacher vacancy grant is how you are celebrating your district, advertising and marketing your district and so that is something we would like to work towards and create a list of duties or tasks that would be expected of that individuals who would be willing to do that. We are looking for some individuals who want to help us tell our story.”
