The photo “Herd dog surrounded” by Scott County’s Julie Sellars was the runner-up winner in round two of Rep. Davidsmeyer’s 2023 photo contest.
State Representative C.D. Davidsmeyer (R-Murrayville) on Monday announced the winning photographs in the second round of his 2023 photo contest.
The second-round runner-up winner of the contest is Julie Sellars of rural Scott County. Sellars lives on a farm halfway between Winchester and Alsey.
Sellars said that, although she is not a serious photographer, she was inspired to take her prize winning photo when a group of feeder calves gathered around her English Shepherd, Piper.
“I just thought it was funny that the dog was surrounded,” Sellars said. “When the calves are that size, she thinks it’s great. She’s quite the character.”
Runner-up Sellars will have her photo displayed in Rep. Davidsmeyer’s Capitol office.
The first place photograph of a wheat field soaking up the Illinois sunshine and ready for harvesting was submitted by Brenda Reif-Ranger of Eldred.
“I continue to be impressed with the beautiful pictures from throughout the 100th District,” commented Rep. C.D. Davidsmeyer. “Representing a large rural district means that there are so many beautiful areas to show off to all who visit my office. They remind me of all of the people who I represent and all of my travels through our amazing piece of this world!”
The photo contest is running through 2023 with winners chosen at three different times throughout the year. The first round of pictures was selected on July 15 and the second round was selected October 1st. The third deadline will be December 15.
Individuals whose pictures are selected will have their photo framed and hung in Rep. C.D. Davidsmeyer’s Capitol office in Springfield and will be invited to his Springfield office once it has been displayed. The 100th District includes all or portions of Adams, Brown, Calhoun, Greene, Jersey, Macoupin, Madison, Morgan, Pike, and Scott Counties.
“This photo contest has been a popular way to show off the many wonderful places and activities in our hometowns. The various submission dates allow for pictures from different seasons thatshow the wide range of colors in the trees and natural beauty of our state. We should always be proud of where we live, raise our families and work here in Illinois,” added Rep. Davidsmeyer.
Please contact Rep. C.D. Davidsmeyer at 217-243-6221 if you have any questions or by email at [email protected].
