The Kampsville Kids Christmas Committee held its annual Christmas party Sunday evening at the Center for American Archeology. “30 Years of Magic” was the theme for this year with both Santa and the Grinch visiting for photos and fun. The day included a hot chocolate bar, kids games, refreshments and the treat walk. To help spread some holiday cheer and smiles, every child went home with a gift.
With additions to the event every year the committee is proud to continue the tradition and see it grow.
“Over the years many things have changed and more fun gets added every year. That’s what keeps this party successful,” committee chairpersons Debby Klunk and Diane Brangenberg agreed. “The success of this party is that it includes all ages working to make it happen. This is a completely free event other than if anyone chooses to buy chances on basket raffles, the basket raffles are what help fund the party.”
This year, for the second year in a row, kids were able to go home with new winter coats as trustee Stephanie Angel and Mayor Amanda Johnson handed out coats for the “Coats for Kids” program sponsored by Green Hyundai of Springfield.
Children went home with warm hands and ears this year also with St. Anslem’s Alter Society handing out hats, gloves and scarves.
