Carrie Carls
Carrie Carls has been named chief nursing officer at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital. Carls, who has worked as a nurse at JMH for nearly 29 years, has been serving in the role in an interim capacity since the retirement of Leanna Wynn in July 2023.
“Carrie is deeply committed to our patients and leads by example,” said JMH President and CEO Trevor Huffman. “I know that our long tradition of nursing excellence at JMH will continue under her leadership.”
Carls, a registered nurse, earned a doctor of nursing practice degree from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in May 2023. She previously served as director of professional nursing practice and clinical informatics at JMH. As Magnet program director, she played a key role in helping JMH achieve its fourth Magnet designation for nursing excellence in 2023.
She has served as an assistant professor of nursing at Illinois College and is active in several professional nursing organizations.
“It’s an honor to work alongside so many talented, dedicated nurses at JMH,” Carls said. “I’m proud of the way we serve our community.”
