Forest Stand Improvement and Chainsaw Safety
On Friday, Feb. 9, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Chris Evans, Forestry Extension & Research Specialist with the University of Illinois Extension, will present a hands-on, outdoor field training on Forest Stand Improvement and Chainsaw Safety at JWCC Ag Center/U of I Orr Ag Research Center near Perry.
Participants will be trained in safe use of chainsaws, safety gear to use, chainsaw cleaning/maintenance, and an opportunity to practice these skills with experts. This is a workshop and not a certification course. Wear long pants and sturdy boots. We will have PPE and chainsaws on hand to use, but feel free to bring your own chainsaws and PPE (chaps, helmets, hearing & eye protection) if you have them.
With only 12 seats available, this training will fill to capacity. Register early.
Participants are required to:
• Wear long pants and work boots
• Bring signed waiver
Optional items to bring:
• Chainsaws and PPE (chaps, helmets, hearing & eye protection). If you don’t have them, we will provide them for you
• Camping chair to use on breaks.

Ag Visit Day
JWCC’s Ag Program will host prospective students and family members at the JWCC Ag Visit Day on Monday, Feb. 19, at 9:30 a.m.
Activities of the Ag Visit Day include a tour of the new JWCC Ag Program facility, an opportunity to speak with current ag students and faculty, and other opportunities to learn about the JWCC Ag Program.

JWCC Agriculture Online Sale
JWCC’s Ag Program will be holding an online sale fundraiser on Thursday, March 7th. The sale will be hosted by SCOnlineSales.com.
All proceeds from the sale support the JWCC Ag Club and JWCC Livestock Evaluation Team.
Items donated and purchased allow for JWCC students to partake in educational opportunities they may not otherwise have.
