Warriors rally in fourth to take win over Roxana

The Calhoun Warriors hit the Roxana Shells hard in the fourth quarter Saturday, Feb. 17, to secure the win, 40-38.

The Shells were able to take a small lead over the Warriors in the first quarter, 18-15, and after a low scoring third quarter Roxana was able to carry the lead into the second half of the match, 20- 18.
The Warriors were able to score eight points in the third quarter, but the Shells out scored Calhoun with 15 more points to keep their lead going into the final quarter with the game score at, 35-26.
The Warriors held nothing back in the final quarter of the game putting 14 points on the board and only allowing Roxana three points to guarantee the Calhoun win, 40-38.
Lane Eilerman led Warriors in scoring with 13 points, Conner Longnecker and Chase Caselton each scored nine points, Drew Wallendorf scored four points and Jack Zipprich scored three points.
The Warriors faced a loss against Griggsville-Perry on Thursday, Feb. 15, after taking a small lead over the Tornadoes by halftime with the score at 20-16.
The Tornadoes had a strong second half of the game outscoring the Warriors with 13 points in the third quarter and 16 in the fourth. The Warriors were able to score eight points in the third and 11 in the fourth quarter with Griggsville-Perry taking the win, 45-39.
Eilerman led the Warriors in scoring against the Tornadoes with 14 points followed by Longnecker with nine, Zipprich with eight, Caselton with four, Wallendorf with two and Cade Sievers with two.
The Warriors faced a loss against Pittsfield earlier in the week, 60-44, on Tuesday, Feb. 13.
Pittsfield finished the first quarter with a four point lead, 9-13, which they were able carry through out the second quarter with 18 points and through the second half of the match with 10 points in the third quarter and 19 in the fourth taking a 60-44 win over the Warriors.
Longnecker scored 10 points against Pittsfield, Eilerman and Zipprich scored eight points, Jack Webster scored seven points, Caselton scored six, Jake Snyders scored three points and Wallendorf scored two points.
