Allen Keith Braner, 77, of Jerseyville, IL and formerly of Jacksonville, IL passed away Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
He was born Aug. 25, 1946, in Jacksonville, the son of Porter Lee and Jewell (Cannon) Braner. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brother, Gary Lee Braner (wife, Connie) of Jacksonville. He married Sally Crawford Braner on January 27, 1968, and later divorced in 1998.
Allen is survived by his beautiful family of three sons, Mark Ivan Lane (wife Kristen) of Franklin, Matt Allen Braner (wife, Lisa) of Jacksonville, and Jonathan Michael Braner of Kansas City, MO; five grandchildren, Karlie Lane, Miranda Lee (Braner) Ring (husband, Nick), Alex Braner, Bailey Braner, and Cooper Braner; one great grandson, Killian; and two nieces, Michelle (husband, Joey) King and Kim (husband, Sunny) Probst, all of Jacksonville.
Allen graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1964. He enlisted and served his country proudly in the United States Air Force. He was stationed in Thailand with the Strategic Air Command (SAC). He had a great love for selling fertilizer and chemicals and had also owned and operated Illini Fertilizer and a tank cleaning company. He had worked for Kaiser Ag Chemical, AMCHEM, Mobil Chemical, Triple T Fertilizer, and AB Chrisman, where he bought and sold barges, rail cars, and trucks of fertilizer. He was baptized and a member of Liter Baptist Church in Literberry. He was also an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys.
A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, 2024, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville. A graveside service will follow at Arcadia Cemetery, north of Jacksonville.  Memorial gifts are suggested to P.A.W.S. Condolences may be sent online at buchanancody.com.
