The Calhoun Community Foundation’s tenth Cash for Roadside Trash (CFRT) clean-up efforts were tremendous this year with over 100 commercial size garbage bags filled with litter and turned in on Saturday, April 20.
The foundation estimates a total of approximately two tons of litter was cleaned up around the county with a total of 141 bags turned in at the CFRT redemption sites in Hardin and Brussel, each weighing around 25-30 pounds.
“This year’s Cash for Roadside Trash clean-up program was a winner,” Judy Burch, Coordinator, said. “The Calhoun Community Foundation and I would like to thank all who participated in the 2024 clean-up and to thank the many Calhoun citizens who avoid littering our scenic County throughout the year.”
The top collectors received a $100 cash prize for the efforts from the Calhoun Community Foundation along with $2 for each bag of litter that was turned in. The foundation also awarded two additional $50 prizes for collection efforts.
This year the Justin and Lisa Moody Family, Marilyn, Olivia, Gwynnevere, Adelaide, Oliver, Emma, William and Trevor collected a total of 48 bags of roadside litter and received one of the $100 bonus prizes.
