John Wood Community College (JWCC) is hosting an informational session in Pittsfield for the college’s Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program at JWCC’s Southeast Education Center (SEC) on Monday, May 13 at 4 p.m.
The summer session of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program at the SEC is scheduled to run from June 10 to Aug. 1.
JWCC’s CNA curriculum includes classroom, lab, and clinical experience in a long-term care facility or hospital setting. CNAs are prepared to provide one-on-one assistance with “activities of daily living” (ADLs), defined as dressing, bathing, walking, feeding, making beds, taking and recording vital signs, and other essential basic services. This care may be provided to hospital patients, care facility residents, or those requiring home healthcare.
For more information on the June CNA session to be offered at the SEC, contact the center at 217-285-5319 or [email protected].
Several funding sources are available to qualified students who wish to attend the June CNA session in Pittsfield.
The funding sources cover tuition, fees, books, and supplies. Funding may also be available to provide other supportive services required by students while they are attending the CNA program.
Federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) funding is available to qualified applicants between the ages of 17 and 24 who meet low income guidelines set by the United States Department of Labor.
WIOA was signed into law on July 22, 2014. WIOA is designed to help job seekers access employment, education, training, and support services to succeed in the labor market and to match employers with the skilled workers they need to compete in the global economy.
Additional state funding is available for qualified applicants who do meet the income or age requirements of the WIOA funding.
For more information on funding availability and eligibility requirements, contact Two Rivers Regional Council of Public Officials at 217-717-8243.
