Local author Donna Kennedy is celebrating the release of her newest book “The Last Time I Saw Her” with a launch party and signing at the Do Drop Inn in Dow on Thursday, May 16, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Kennedy, who writes under the pen name D.F. Kennedy, said this is the fourth book she has written and is a standalone novel based on her “So Help Me God” series that delves into themes of deception, betrayal and redemption.
“The first three books of the series, collectively titled the “So Help Me God Series,” namely “The Truth” and “The Whole Truth,” intertwine my and my mother’s own experiences with fictional elements, resulting in a compelling blend of mystery, thriller, and romance. While the third book, “Nothing But The Truth,” concludes the initial storyline, it leaves behind a tantalizing cliffhanger, setting the stage for further exploration of one of the characters, Charlotte,” Kennedy said. “Charlotte’s narrative arc inspired a standalone novel, aptly titled “The Last Time I Saw Her,” which delves into themes of deception, betrayal, and redemption. In this psychological thriller, Charlotte is thrust into a gripping tale of intrigue and danger, as she navigates the murky waters of organized crime and confronts startling revelations from her past. It delves into the poignant, powerful story of two women and the friendship that becomes the bulkhead of their lives.”
Kennedy said her writing journey began in 2021 when documenting her experiences during her time in the USAF. From there, her writing process brought her to develop a narrative that resulted in her So Help Me God series. Throughout her writing career Kennedy has been recognized by the Chick Lit Cafe awards, the New York Big Book Awards and the Readers Favorite Book Awards.
“The Last Time I Saw Her” will be available at the May 16 launch party. The cost to attend the launch party and dinner is $25 per person which includes the cost of a copy of the book, and people can register at dfkennedy.com. Digital and physical copies of the book can also be found on amazon.com.
