Christopher Coleman, 40, Baylis, was arrested May 14 at 10:30 a.m. on charges of child pornography.
The arrest was the result of a court authorized search warrant executed in the 200 block of South Main, Baylis, by the Pike County Sheriff’s Department, the Illinois State Police and the Illinois Attorney General’s office.
Coleman was charged with 10 counts of child pornography materials, including videos via electronic device, of children under 13 engaging in various sexual acts.
The criminal investigation began in April when information was received regarding the possession of child pornography. The investigation was forwarded to the Pike County Sheriff’s Department for further investigation.
Chief Deputy Zack Orr, who led the criminal investigation, said numerous search warrants were obtained and executed which helped law enforcement successfully identify, locate, and arrest Coleman.
Chief Deputy Zack Orr is assigned to the Office of Illinois Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The task force is a national network of 61 coordinated task forces, representing 5,400 federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. The task force is dedicated to investigating, prosecuting, and developing effective responses to internet crimes against children.
Coleman is currently lodged in the Pike County Jail.
