A Carrollton man who has been sitting in Greene County Jail since September of last year on charges of sexual abuse of a child, will remain there a little while longer.
Michael D. Moran, 56, was charged with Predator Criminal Sexual Assault/Victim under 13, on May 13, 2023. He appeared in Greene County Circuit Court on July 1 for a jury pre-trial with a jury trial scheduled for July 8.
His Public Defender, Tom Piper, asked Judge Zachary Schmidt for another continuance due to the fact that he cannot find any medical experts willing to give Moran a mental examination.
Predator Criminal Sexual Assault/Victim under 13 is a Class X Felony, punishable by 6-30 years in the Department of Corrections with a possible extended sentence of 30-60 years.
Judge Schmidt reset the jury pre-trial to Aug. 7 at 1:30 p.m. with a jury trial scheduled for Sept. 9 at 9 a.m.
