The Fill Inn Station in Batchtown hosted “Give Back Sunday” on Sunday, July 14, honoring the Gibbs Family. Giving back a percentage of their Sunday dinner sales to help the Gibbs family after many nominations.
Both of the Gibbs children have medical problems that require frequent trips to St. Louis Children’s Hospital. Which can get costly with gas and trips across the ferry.
Richard is a dispatcher at the Calhoun Sheriff’s Office and a volunteer on the Calhoun County Ambulance as well as the fire department when time allows. His son little Richard was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 2019. His daughter Elizabeth was recently diagnosed with Pompe disease. A disease that attacks the muscles. To attempt to treat this for her, she is participating in a clinical trial, which requires IV transfusions every other week. She also has to do physical therapy monthly at Children’s Hospital.
Calhoun County showed their support and love Sunday evening and the Fill Inn Station was able to present a check just shy of $4,000 to the family and a week’s worth of Ferry Passes.
“We can’t express enough our gratitude at the generosity of all who came out, “ said Fill Inn Station owners.
