Each year, right before school starts, the Roodhouse Police Department and the Ice Cream Depot, go in together to treat the kids to one last summer bash called “Chillin’ with the Police.” The Ice Cream Depot gives kids a free cone, the fire department brings a truck and sprays water for the kids to play in and the police department provides a movie. Even K-9 Turbo made it to this year’s event.

There were plenty of other activities for the kids to do, such as playing catch with these Velcro mits as Hayden Robison is doing here. (Carmen Ensinger/Greene Prairie Press)
