The 10th Annual Hometown Christmas this year on Saturday, December 7th in Winchester.
The community-wide, daylong event will kick off with the Kiwanis Pancake and Sausage Breakfast at Sibert Hall at Winchester United Methodist Church from 8-10 a.m.
Many pop-up vendors will be set up at the square and in other locations around town from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Besides the square, vendors will be situated at the American Legion, Marshall Chevrolet, the Winchester Bowl, Winchester City Hall and the Russet Cup.
Of course, many permanent, brick and mortar Winchester businesses will also be running specials and promotions during the event as well. An addition this year is the Winchester High School FFA Chapter selling freshly made wreaths and hot cocoa on the square.
Voting for the “Disguise a Gingerbread Man” contest will be at the Winchester Public Library and the First Christian Church will host a Cookie Walk between 9am and noon. To enter the Gingerbread Man contest visit winchesterpubliclibrary.org. All completed gingerbread men are due to the library by Friday, December 6.
Josh Cannon’s model train display will be available to view from 9 a.m. -3 p.m. at the Winchester Train Depot, with coffee and cookies served there from noon-1 p.m..
Santa will arrive by fire truck at 1 p.m. and be ushered down Main Street to the square where he will welcome children from 1-3pm at his house. The United Methodist Church will host a Christmas Carol sing- a- long at the Old School Museum open to the whole community at 1 p.m, followed by the First Baptist Church’s Soup Supper fundraiser from 3:30-6pm.
Participants in the Lighted Christmas Parade organized by the WHS Key Club will line up at Daws Funeral Home at 5:30, with the parade beginning at 6:30.
The presentation of Memory Trees will be after the parade in Douglas Park on the square, along with other announcements, including the Key Club Parade winners.
Hometown Christmas schedule of events – Saturday, December 7
8:00-10:00 : Kiwanis Pancake and Sausage Breakfast
9:00-12:00: First Baptist Church’s Cookie Walk and Gingerbread Man Contest judging at Winchester Public Library.
9:00-3:00: Vendors set up at various businesses, FFA sales wreaths and cocoa
9:00-3:00: Josh Cannon’s Model Train Displayed at the Winchester Depot (refreshments served from noon-1pm)
1:00-3:00: Santa arrives in a Firetruck and welcomes children at his house on the square
1:00: United Methodist Church hosts community wide Christmas carol sing-a-long at the Old School Museum
3:30-6:00 : First Baptist Church hosts a Soup Supper fundraiser.
6:30: Winchester High School Key Club Lighted Christmas Parade, with Memory Tree presentations to follow directly after.
