Zach Ferguson has been released by Pikeland Unit 10 as the varsity football coach and athletic director for the 2025-26 school year. The Pikeland Board voted 4-3 to release Ferguson, and several community members spoke in favor of retaining Ferguson.
Zach Ferguson has been released by Pikeland Unit 10 as the varsity football coach and athletic director for the 2025-26 school year.
The action was taken Wednesday Dec. 18 as part of the regular Pikeland Board meeting.
Approximately 50 people attended the board meeting with most if not all supporting Ferguson. Nine people spoke on his behalf. The crowd included Ferguson’s family members and fellow teachers.
After closed session, the board voted 4-3 to release Ferguson from his football and athletic director duties. He will retain his classroom position and varsity baseball coach. Those voting to release Ferguson were Lindsay Henderson, Charlie Hull, Jerry Edison and Richard Myers. Those voting to retain him were: Tara Bradshaw, Cody Piper and Megan Vose.
Bradshaw, board president, said both jobs would be posted and interviews conducted for both positions.
Other Pikeland personnel moves

At its December 18 regular board meeting, the Pikeland Community School Board addressed several action items related to personnel changes in the district.
Resignations
The Board accepted the resignation of Kelsy Roig from her position as part-time kitchen staff at Pikeland Community School.
Extracurriculars
The board approved Holly Lowe and Kate Marable as Junior High Volunteer Assistant Volleyball Coaches for the 2024-2025 season at Pikeland Community School. Their contributions are anticipated to strengthen the school’s volleyball program.
Leave of Absence
The board approved a non-FMLA leave for one Pikeland employee, allowing the staff member to address personal matters while retaining their employment status.
