The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office welcomed their newest Deputy Sheriff, Deputy Zach Smith.
Deputy Smith was sworn in on by the Honorable Judge Charles HW Burch on Tuesday, Dec. 17, after graduating from the Southwestern Illinois Police Academy in early December.
“The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office is excited to welcome Deputy Smith to our team. Deputy Smith is excited to make a positive impact, and to serve the community in which he has spent his entire life; and where he is raising his family,” the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.
A Calhoun County native and graduate of Calhoun High School and John Wood Community College, Deputy Smith has been a lifelong resident of Calhoun and currently resides in Hardin.
Before being hired in the fall of 2024 and attending the police academy, Deputy Smith served as a Corrections Officer with the Pike County Sheriff’s Department.
