After being canceled because of COVID-19 the last two years, the Winchester EMS Chili Cook-off is was back last year.
And the annual event this year will take place this year as well – from noon to 12-10 p.m, Saturday, January 25, at the EMS building in Winchester.
This year marks the 26th chili cook-off EMS fundraiser.
Fundraisers and donations are a vital source of funding for the ambulance service
Before the 2021 chili cook-off was canceled due to COVID-19 restrictions, Winchester EMS service’s Jennifer McMillen said that the cook-off routinely brings in thousands of dollars, used to purchase life-saving supplies and equipment.
In addition to the annual chili/salsa cookoff, this year’s event will feature a 50/50 drawing and live music from the Longmeier Band, starting at 6 p.m.
To register for the chili/salsa competition or for information on donating to Winchester EMS, residents are encouraged to call the Winchester EMS building at 217-742-346 or McMillen at 217-248-9692.
