Man attacked with hatchet in Greenfield

The Greene County Sheriff’s Department was called to Greenfield on Feb. 23 to investigate the report of a man being attacked with a hatchet.
According to information released by the Sheriff’s Department, the department responded to a residence in the 900 block of Walnut Street in Greenfield at approximately 1 a.m. regarding a male subject being attacked by another male subject with a hatchet.
The victim indicated that he and the other individual were at a residence in the 800 block of College Street when they got into an argument which turned into a physical altercation resulting in the victim being struck in the head with a hatchet.
The victim suffered a severe head injury during the altercation and was transported to Boyd Hospital in Carrollton where he was then transferred to another facility.
After investigating the incident, the Sheriff’s Department arrested Joseph T. House, 29, of Greenfield charging him with Aggravated Battery.
House was transported to the Greene County Jail for booking and later released with a notice to appear in Greene County Circuit Court.
