Calhoun County is mourning the loss of Tony Sievers, a lifelong resident of Batchtown, following his unexpected death last Wednesday.
Police, fire, and EMS were all called out to the Calhoun Quarry in Fieldon on Wednesday afternoon for an incident regarding falling rock which took the life of Sievers.
Sievers and his family owned and operated the quarry with this being his 50th year with the company.
Sievers was described as a man who valued his family and community, volunteering his time as a volunteer fireman and a trustee. He was also an active athlete growing up who later dedicated time umpiring and refereeing, and was an original member of the Calhoun Entertainment Company.
Visitation for Sievers was held Monday, March 10, at Gress, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home Hardin. His full obituary can be found on Page A4.
