Jeffrey R. Lindsay
On November 3, 2024, at approximately 5:55 a.m., Calhoun County Sheriff William Heffington responded to the report of a suspicious vehicle located at a business near the intersection of Park St., and Main St., in Hardin, Calhoun County, Illinois.
After Sheriff Heffington made contact and identified the driver; the suspect vehicle fled the scene, and crossed the Joe Page Bridge into Greene County at a high rate of speed. Sheriff Heffington requested a warrant to be issued for the driver.
On December 9, 2024, at approximately 10:22 p.m., a Deputy with the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office attempted to make a traffic stop on Illinois River Rd., near Batchtown Rd. After the Deputy exited the vehicle, the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed and the Deputy was unable to locate the vehicle.
Chief Deputy Zach Hardin then began an investigation into identifying the driver of the vehicle during the traffic stop on December 9. Chief Deputy Hardin was able to identify the suspect as the same individual that also fled from Sheriff Heffington in November. Chief Deputy Hardin was also able to identify the suspect’s involvement in several reported thefts in the area.
Subsequent to the investigations, the Calhoun County State’s Attorney’s Office requested warrants for the driver, Jeffrey R Lindsay, age 51, of Eolia, Missouri for the following offenses:
ν Possession of Stolen License Plate,
ν Theft,
ν Aggravated Fleeing / Attempt to Elude a Peace Officer (Altered or Stolen License Plate)
ν Unlawful Display of License Plate,
ν Improper Use of Registration
ν Fleeing / Attempt to Elude a Peace Officer,
ν Reckless Driving,
ν And various traffic offenses.
On December 15, 2024, Lindsay was arrested in Chesterfield, Missouri and the suspect vehicle was impounded. Lindsay has since waived extradition and appeared in court at the Calhoun County Courthouse and was granted Pre-Trial Release pending trial, under the provisions of House Bill 3653, known as the SAFE-T Act.
