A routine traffic stop in Roodhouse led to the arrest of a subject with multiple felony warrants and an injury to a police officer.
According to Roodhouse Police Chief Kyle Robison, on April 3, an officer was on patrol when he conducted a traffic stop for a turn signal violation on a vehicle being driven by Daron W. Lee, 36, formerly of White Hall, with a last known address out of Midland, Texas.
“The Lee exited the vehicle and began to walk away to a nearby porch,” Robison said in a press release. “The officer recognized Lee and knew that he had multiple felony warrants. He ordered him to stop and Lee told him ‘no’, exited the porch and began to run away. A brief foot pursuit took place but ended quickly.”
Robison said that while the officer was trying to gain control and complete the arrest, Lee became physically combative with the officer.
“Our officer did request additional assistance and did get assistance from the White Hall Police Department,” Robison said.
Lee was arrested for multiple full extradition felony warrants from Midland Texas. That includes theft over $30,000 to $150,000, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of methamphetamine.
Additionally, Lee was charged with aggravated battery to a peace officer, resisting arrest and possession of methamphetamine from this particular traffic stop.
The officer received minor injuries, was treated and released at Passavant Hospital in Jacksonville and has since returned back to his duties at work.
