A former Roodhouse man has been sentenced to a year in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to a charge of Criminal Damage to Government Supported Property.
Charles W. Swarringim, 41, who represented himself, pled guilty to the charge in Greene County Circuit Court on May 7 in front of Greene County Circuit Judge Zachary Schmidt.
The sentence stems from an incident on or around April 15 in the Greene County Jail. Swarringim, while incarcerated in the Greene County Jail, knowingly damaged a blanket, the property of the jail.
Swarringim has cases pending in both Cass and Morgan counties. In Cass County, he has two charges against him for Meth Delivery 15 to 100 grams, a Class X felony, Meth Delivery 5 to 15 grams, a Class 1 felony and a charge of failing to return from furlough, a Class 3 felony.
In Morgan, he has charges pending for Possession of Meth 5 to 15 grams, Meth Delivery 15 to 100 grams, Possession of Meth, Driving on a Revoked License, Unlawful Use of Cannabis by Driver, Improper Lane Usage and Transportation/Carry Alcohol by Driver.
In Greene County, he has a prior charge of Possession of Meth less than 5 grams, Unlawful Possession of Cannabis by Driver, Driving on Suspended License and Transporting/Carry Alcohol. by Driver.
Swarringim was remanded to the custody of the Illinois Department of Corrections immediately following the sentencing.
