Jenna Eve Eschbach, PhD
Jenna Eve Eschbach of Saint Louis, Missouri – originally from Jerseyville, Illinois, was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the prestigious Washington University in Saint Louis, Missouri.
She successfully defended her research on April 2, 2025, in the Laboratory of Dr. Sebla Kutluay, Department of Molecular Microbiology and Microbial Pathogenesis, at Washington University-Saint Louis in which she investigated the Role of the cGAS-STING Sensing Pathway in HIV-1 and SARS-CoV-2 Infections, thus earning her degree.
The Doctoral Hooding Ceremony was completed on May 9, 2025, at Washington University-Saint Louis where Dr. Eschbach received her academic hood from her adviser Dr. Sebla Kutluay and PhD degree conferral by Dr. Steve Mennerick.
Commencement Exercises were completed on May 12, 2025, on Olympic Field at Washington University-Saint Louis.
ν Olympian Simone Biles, the most decorated gymnast in history, delivered the commencement address to the Class of 2025, speaking to 3,400 graduates, and was awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters.
ν Rochelle Walensky, MD, WashU alumna, former director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and one of the most prominent physician-scientists in the world, was awarded the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Science.
Dr. Eschbach was the 2022 recipient of the highly prestigious National Institute Of Health F31 Fellowship Award.
Dr. Eschbach’s research is included in mBio and Nature Communications with contributions to other articles.
Dr. Eschbach possesses a Bachelor of Science Degree from Truman State University, 2017
Dr. Eschbach is the daughter of James and Acinda Eschbach of Jerseyville, Illinois.
