The Jersey County Democratic Central Committee, in conjunction with the Calhoun, Greene and Macoupin Democratic Committees, is sponsoring a Town Hall meeting with Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski on Saturday, June 28, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The Town Hall meeting will be held at the Jersey County Governmental Building auditorium at 200 North Lafayette Street in Jerseyville, Illinois.
Congresswoman Budzinski represents an opportunity for residents of the 15th Congressional District to hear from and ask questions of a member of the United States House of Representatives from the State of Illinois. Congresswoman Budzinski was elected to Congress in 2022 for the 13th Congressional District. She serves on the House Committee on Agriculture and the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs where she advocates for federal policies that support Illinois family farmers and our nation’s heroes. She has also been ranked as one of the most bipartisan members of the House of Representatives by the Common Ground Committee for her work across the party aisle.
Don Little, Jersey County Democratic Party Chairperson, said that Congresswoman Budzinski was invited to come to Jerseyville because this area does not hear from Mary Miller, the elected Republican member of Congress for the 15th District. Calhoun, Greene, and Jersey counties are part of the 15th Congressional District, but Mary Miller only communicates by press release or attends partisan fundraisers within the congressional district where a ticket purchase is required to speak to her. The current policy of Republican members of Congress appears to urge avoidance of general and uncontrolled public town hall settings. Little said the people of the 15th District deserve “full representation and accountability from their elected representatives in all levels of government.”
The June 28th Town Hall with Congresswoman Budzinski is free and open to the public with remarks provided by Ms. Budzinski, and questions provided by the attendees. The only expectation made upon the public in attendance is respect for each other and for the Congresswoman. Canned and dry food donations will be accepted from the public for distribution to local food pantries.
Doors will open at 9 a.m. and refreshments will be available.
