Summer is here and if you can stand the heat there is plenty going on in the next few weeks to keep you busy and having fun.
This weekend the Great Illinois River Raft Race returns to the Hardin Riverfront on Saturday, June 28, from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The day will feature plenty of fun for all ages with bounce houses for the kids, an all ages slip n’ slide, a wife carry where you can win your wife’s weight in beer, and much more before the night caps off with a fireworks display.
Races start at 1 p.m. with the kayak race followed by restricted class raft race at 2 p.m., open class raft race at 3 p.m. and the leisure class raft race at 3:30 p.m. Teams at enter the day of the event for $30 per person. Races start at Godar Diamond and race participants must be at least 18 years of age.
The following weekend the Village of Fieldon will be hosting their annual Fourth of July Celebration from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 4, with a variety of food and activities planned throughout the day.
The following week the Jersey County Fair starts off with Christian Music Night and the talent show on Sunday, July 6, with fair rides, food, and events planned throughout the week before things wrap up with the demolition derby on Saturday, July 13.
