Workers from South Dakota’s McGuire Water began refurbishing Barry’s Lafayette Park water tower on June 9. A worker is shown here ascending the tower last Thursday. In March, council members approved a $696,000 bid from McGuire to complete the work. Barry City Administrator Jeff Hogge indicated that the bid includes placing a bag around the tower, stripping it of all paint, making any necessary repairs, and repainting the structure. Hogge anticipates the project to take approximately 90 days from start to finish. (David Camphouse/Pike Press)
