Illinois Electric Cooperative Member’s Fund donated $5000 to the North Greene Area Food Pantry to help with their food expenses. This donation was made possible by participating Illinois Electric members paying an even dollar amount on their bill. For example, if the bill is $177.42, the member will pay an even $178, with the 58 cents in this example going to the Member’s Fund. In all, about 4800 accounts participate by contributing to the fund. The Fund uses these proceeds to benefit activities throughout the Cooperative’s service area. Since March 2000, the fund has distributed $983,000 to local schools, hospitals, churches, service clubs and charities.
